The Public Records & Request Management Section is primarily responsible for coordinating the preparation and subsequent release of Maricopa County Sheriff's Office records responsive to public records requests, subpoenas, and requests from Maricopa County departments and public entities.

Legal Service

Legal documents, such as subpoenas for records and appearances, notices of claims, and summons and complaints, may be sent to the PRRM by e-mail at [email protected]. Documents that require proof of legal service may be served at MCSO Headquarters, 550 W. Jackson Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85003; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, excluding County holidays.

Submitting a Public Records Request

You may submit a public records request to the Public Records & Request Management Section one of three ways:

  1. Online at : Public Records Request Portal
  2. E-mail to : [email protected]
  3. Mail/deliver in person to: 550 W. Jackson St., Phoenix, AZ 85003

Members of the media may submit their request through one of the above methods; however, requests for comments or other information that is not a public record may be made to the MCSO Public Information Office at [email protected].

Requests for incident and CAD reports can be submitted to our Departmental Reports Section.

Requests are promptly processed in the order they are received. The amount of time to completely process your request depends upon the number of requests pending, the location of the records, the volume of material encompassed in the request, the nature of the material being requested and the amount of redaction, if any, that is necessary.

Please be aware, if you are requesting records on a high-profile investigation, the time to complete your request may be significantly longer as these cases are often voluminous. Identifying the specific records being requested will help expedite your request.

Requests should contain information regarding the specific records requested. MCSO cannot process requests for “all records.” If known, please provide the names of subjects, dates of birth, dates of incidents or requested records, booking numbers, and any other details that would assist personnel to identify the records you are seeking.

Please ensure that you have provided your e-mail address and a contact telephone number. Once your documents have been collected, you will receive an invoice through e-mail or U.S. postal mail. The invoice will indicate the total fee for the requested records and acceptable methods of payment. Once payment has been received, the records will be sent to your e-mail via electronic file share, unless arrangements are made to pick them up in person or to have them mailed.

Pursuant to ARS 39-121.03 and ARS 39-129, the fee schedule for public records requests is as follows:

  • Pages 1-10: $5.00 (fee waived if records are provided via electronic file share)
  • 10+ pages: $0.50 per page (fee waived if records are provided via electronic file share)
  • CD/DVD (audio and digital photos): $15.00 per CD/DVD (fee waived if records are provided via electronic file share)
  • CD/DVD (video and body worn camera footage): $25.00 per video-hour (fee set pursuant to ARS 39 129; fee waiver is not available)

Paying for Public Records Online

If you have received an invoice from the Public Records & Request Management Section, you may pay for the requested records using the Fee Payment Portal. Please ensure that you are providing the request number, which is listed at the bottom of the invoice, as well as the requester name that was provided on the original request. Payment may be rejected if the information provided does not match our records. Once payment is reviewed and approved by the Public Records & Request Management Section, records will be shared with you via an electronic share file system, ShareFile, within five (5) business days. If you have not received an e-mail with a download link for the records within five (5) business days of payment, or have further questions, you may contact the Public Records & Request Management Section:

  • By phone at (602) 876-3400; Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, excluding County holidays
  • By e-mail at [email protected]
  • In person drop off of requests and pick up of records can be completed at MCSO Headquarters, 550 W. Jackson Street; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, excluding County holidays.

**Please note that requests for copies of inmate non-legal video/phone/tablet communications are provided through a 3rd party vendor under contract to MCSO to provide those services to inmates. Delays in processing these records requests may occur based on the vendors technological abilities at the time the request is forwarded to them for action.**
