The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office volunteer Posse consists of non-compensated positions made up of people from all walks of life who want to assist law enforcement as a way to give back to their community. They contribute their varied skills and interests to one goal; support the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Posse branches train for many support functions to include: Search and Rescue, Crime Scene Security, Patrol Support, Administrative Assistance, Civic Functions, Disaster Relief, and Emergency Details.

Informational recruiting meetings for the volunteer Posse program are held once a month. The monthly recruiting meetings are the third Wednesday of each month, except December, and begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 2627 S 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. This is just north east of the intersection of 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

During the monthly recruitment meetings, interested Posse recruits will be briefed on the Posse program, what to expect throughout the background process, training requirements, and how to properly complete the application.

Minimum requirements to join the Posse program include the following: at least 18 years of age, a legal US resident, have a valid driver's license, and be in good health. A person cannot have been convicted of any felonies, have any misdemeanor convictions in the last 12 months or a record of improper personal conduct, which may affect their suitability for assisting law enforcement.
