Emergency Dispatchers are the first of the first responders. At MCSO, our Dispatchers handle 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls in addition to monitoring and dispatching deputies on a multi-channel radio network via a computer aided dispatch system. This is a fast-paced position requiring excellent multi-tasking skills. Dispatchers must prioritize calls and obtain pertinent information to relay to deputies in the field. While the work can be highly stressful, it can also be quite rewarding. Training for this position takes approximately one year before being released on your own. Shifts vary as Communications operates 24/7 365 days a year. For more information on becoming an Emergency Dispatcher, click here. Apply on-line at jobs.maricopa.gov.
