Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office holds recruiting meetings for the volunteer Posse program once a month. These volunteer, non-compensated positions are made up of people from all walks of life that want to do law enforcement work as a way to give back to their community.

In order to join the Posse program a person must be at least 18, a US citizen, have a valid Arizona driver's license and are in good mental and physical health. A person must also not have any criminal history or record of improper personal conduct that may affect their suitability for law enforcement work.

Applicants must complete a written application and undergo a background check to start the application process. The monthly recruiting meetings are held every third Wednesday of each month, except December and begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 2627 S. 35 th Avenue, just north of the intersection of 35 th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, Phoenix, Arizona.

Interested recruits will complete the written application, be briefed on what to expect throughout the hiring process, training and Posse program.
