S.T.A.R.S. - Sheriff's Teaching Abuse Resistance to Students

The S.T.A.R.S. (Sheriff Teaching Abuse Resistance to Students) Program is a 12 hour, online course, including hands on community service projects for grade school through junior high students. It is a school based computer e-learning program utilizing interactive activities, graphics, photographs, animations and videos that embrace learning. The program is derived from the latest principals of preventing adolescent involvement in drugs, alcohol use, violence and gangs. S.T.A.R.S. was developed to transcend the D.A.R.E. program by being more flexible in its curriculum and less restrictive in the certification necessary to teach. The basis of the program is to teach life skills with the principal objective of prevention. The course is hosted by Valley based Fulton Homes online e-learning system.
