Computer Crimes
The Computer Crimes Unit is an investigative component of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Division. The Computer Crimes Unit investigates crimes committed within Maricopa County that have a nexus to electronic media or the Internet. Investigations include, but are not limited to, computer tampering, identity theft, credit card fraud, hacking, software piracy, harassment/stalking, cyber bullying, sexual exploitation of minors, and luring a minor for sexual exploitation. In addition, The Computer Crimes Unit Forensic Technicians perform examinations of digital media in order to develop evidence in support of criminal investigations conducted throughout the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, in addition to assisting other law enforcement agencies.
